Red carpets, talk shows, podcasts, etc... probably the most frequent question many movie stars are asked is, "What is your favorite movie?". I'm always fascinated by the answers. I'm sure many answer it differently each time. But as I looked to discover new films, these answers became a road map. Some answers seem obvious - Johnny Depp: Wizard Of Oz. But others surprised me -Sylvester Stallone: The Lion in Winter. Sometimes I'm left scrambling to look up a film I'd never even heard of - Al Pacino: The Tree Of Wooden Clogs. One answer led me to Black Orpheus (1959). As Morgan Freeman described why this was his favorite movie, he described the color, the dancing, and the music in ways that I didn't even know existed in film.

If I had the magical abilities to transport myself into a world of any film, Black Orpheus would be very high on that list. There's a certain joy and romance to this film that I return to again and again.

If someone montions a film is their favorite, I feel an obligation to watch it. I may not land with the same opinion, but I have to honor the magic of a film connecting to someone. That connection is why I love the movies.
